Restoring Factory Defaults in Cloud Environments

If your device (virtual machine / instance) is running in any cloud environment (e.g., Amazon Web Services, Azure, or OpenStack), you can restore the device to factory defaults, using the cloud-init tool. This is useful if you are unable to access or log in to the virtual SBC machine (for whatever reason, for example, if you have forgotten the login credentials). Restoring factory defaults erases all existing configuration, including current network configuration and the users in the Local Users table.

To restore factory defaults through cloud-init, place the #write-factory hashtag in the instance user data on the cloud metadata service.

For more information on cloud-init, refer to the Automatic Provisioning of Mediant VE/CE SBC via Cloud-Init Configuration Note.
